The 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training (TTC) by Sri Sri School of Yoga is deeply rooted in ancient yogic scriptures like the Yoga Sutras of Maharishi Patanjali, Srimad Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. This immersive program blends philosophy with practical application, covering yogic lifestyle management, Shat Kriyas (cleansing techniques), asanas, pranayama, and meditation. It equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to demonstrate and teach authentic yoga postures and breathing techniques. Curriculum

Introduction to Yoga

Understand the origins, history, and evolution of yoga. Explore the structure of yogic knowledge and the different Indian philosophies, taking a sneak peek into the Astika and Nastika Darshanas.

Patanjali Yoga Sutras

Introduction to the four chapters of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, with an in-depth understanding of key sutras. Study the Eight Limbs of Yoga, including ethical principles (Yamas & Niyamas), posture (Asana), breath control (Pranayama), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), and ultimate liberation (Samadhi).

The Paths of Yoga

Study the four primary paths of yoga, each offering a unique approach to spiritual growth:

  • Jnana Yoga – The path of knowledge and self-inquiry.
  • Karma Yoga – Selfless service and action without attachment.
  • Bhakti Yoga – Devotion and surrender through love and prayer.
  • Raja Yoga – The royal path of meditation and self-discipline.

Hatha Yoga

An introduction to Hatha Yoga, understanding its lineage, and defining its core principles. Explore the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and its four chapters to gain deeper insight into traditional yogic practices.

The Bhagavad Gita

Study the philosophical teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, a timeless spiritual text. Gain insight into its guidance on duty (dharma), devotion, selfless action, and the path to self-realization through yogic wisdom. Get an introduction to the 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita with explanation of selected shlokas.

The Principles of Yoga

A comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles that form the foundation of yoga practice. Study the Trikaya, Nadis and Chakras, Kundalini, and Antahkarana (the faculties of the mind).

Anatomy and Physiology

Explore the mechanics of the human body in relation to yoga. Understand how muscles, joints, and various bodily systems function and how yoga integrates them for holistic well-being.

Breathing Techniques (Pranayama)

Learn eight pranayama techniques, understanding their benefits and contraindications. Engage in deep practices to enhance energy, focus, and relaxation.

Practicals (Asanas)

Practice 50+ foundational yoga postures with precise alignment, modifications, and sequencing. Develop flexibility, strength, and endurance while understanding the benefits and contraindications of each pose.

Ayurveda and Nutrition

Learn the ancient science of Ayurveda and its connection with yoga. Understand body constitutions (doshas), yogic diet principles, and nutrition for optimal health and vitality.

Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskars) & Sukshma Vyayama

Explore the dynamic and meditative sequence of Surya Namaskar, incorporating breath with movement. Learn Sukshma Vyayama (subtle energy exercises) to enhance mobility, circulation, and energy flow.

Meditation and Yoga Nidra

Learn the principles of meditation that help students experience deep inner stillness. Study Yoga Nidra and its scientific understanding, exploring how it induces profound rest and rejuvenation.

Yogic Cleansing Techniques (Shat Kriyas)

Learn traditional detoxification techniques such as Neti (nasal cleansing), Dhauti (cleansing of the GI tract), and Trataka (eye cleansing) to purify the body, enhance energy flow, and improve
health.

Communication Skills

An introduction to effective communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication. Learn practical techniques for designing impactful introductory talks and
engaging the audience effectively.

Teaching Methodology

Gain confidence in structuring and delivering yoga classes. Learn sequencing, class planning, adaptablity, and how to create a safe and inspiring experience for students of all levels.

Designing Yoga Sequences & Classes

Learn to design customized yoga sequences for different needs and levels. Understand the art of structuring classes that are balanced, engaging, and aligned with yogic principles. This comprehensive training is designed to help you embody the essence of yoga and emerge as a skilled, knowledgeable, and confident teacher.

  • Education: 10 + 2 educational qualification.
  • AOL Programs: Happiness Program of the Art of Living.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Pregnant woman are not allowed in the training.

How is the course structured?

Duration: 3 weeks (21 days) – Full-time residential format.

Daily Schedule: 10 hours of training, including contact and non-contact hours.

The course includes:

  • Daily yoga practice – asanas, pranayama, and meditation.
  • Theoretical sessions – covering yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology.
  • Group discussions & assignments – to deepen understanding and integration.
  • Practical teaching hours – hands-on experience to develop teaching skills.
  • Self-study & reflection time – for personal growth and deeper learning.
  • Bhakti Yoga through Satsang – Immerse yourself in soulful chants, bhajans, and kirtans for a profound devotional experience, cultivating love and connection with the divine.

Is the 200-Hour TTC accredited?

Yes, the course is accredited by Yoga Alliance, an internationally recognized organization that ensures the training meets professional standards for yoga teaching. Additionally, Sri Sri School of Yoga is one of the leading yoga institutions accredited by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Along with these certifications, graduates of the 200H TTC also receive a certificate from the Indian Yoga Association (IYA).

Do I need to have prior teaching experience?

No prior teaching experience is required. The course is designed for beginners and those with no formal teaching background. We will guide you step by step in developing the skills needed to teach yoga. The course is accredited by institutions recognized by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. In addition to these certifications, graduates of the 200H TTC also receive a certificate from the Indian Yoga Association (IYA).

What certification will I receive after completing the course?

Upon successful completion of the 200 Hour TTC, you will receive a 200H Yoga Teacher Training certificate from the Sri Sri School of Yoga. This certification allows you to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200).

What is included in the price?

The price includes stay, food, training materials (Asana Manual and Theory Manual), certification, and a yoga kit (2 pairs of uniforms, yoga mat with belt, neti pot, water bottle, notebook, and pen).

What is the student-teacher ratio in the course?

We maintain a low student-teacher ratio to ensure personalized attention and guidance throughout the training. Usually, it is 1 teacher to 15 Students.

How can I apply for the course?

To apply for the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training course, there are very simple steps.

Step 1. Find a particular training you are interested in in the calendar section

Step 3. By filling out the interest form, you’ll receive the detailed application form on your registered email, followed by an email with information about a short interview after submitting the form.

Is there any post-course support?

Yes, after completing the course, we provide ongoing support, including teaching resources, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with fellow graduates. Additionally, alumni meetings are held monthly.
