Dr. Bharti Verma is a physician by training with over 30 years of experience in Family Medicine. Dr. Verma’s passions for health, learning, and spirituality have all led to the integration of her knowledge of yoga with her experience in medicine. Dr. Verma serves on the faculty of the Sri Sri School of Yoga, teaching Anatomy and Physiology.

Dr. Verma’s passion for learning brought her to the practice of yoga, where she experienced the shift from being a student of the medical classroom to being a student of life. Dr. Verma finds the philosophy of yoga to be a lifetime study that brings profound joy and allows the student to have an embodied experience of knowledge.

Besides holding Master’s, MD, and CCFP degrees, Dr. Verma has completed the Yoga Alliance advanced level (500-hour) teacher training certification. She holds a position on the Board of the Sri Sri School of Yoga, and is Vice President of The Art of Living Foundation in Canada.

Yoga provides Dr. Verma balance in the busy life of a family doctor, and allows her to function at her fullest capacity in the realms of career and family. As a doctor, Dr. Verma finds that yoga expands her levels of compassion, allowing her to understand what others are experiencing and relate to them on a deeper level. Off the mat, Dr. Verma provides care to refugees at the Refugee Health Clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and provides care to elderly patients in a nursing home.
